We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media Lead to develop and support a proactive social media and channel strategy across multiple platforms by creating and curating engaging content that amplifies the mission. In this role, you will advance the organization’s social media objectives around organizational reputation/awareness, thought leadership, engagement, and amplification. You will determine how best to conduct social listening, tracking and reporting of social media results and metrics and also monitor social post publishing and quality. As the Lead, you will be responsible for writing, editing and approving digital content and standing up new social media channels such as, but not limited to, Twitter and You Tube.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Social Media Lad, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of Underwriters Laboratories as you:

  • Write, edit and approve digital content for our social media outlets, including regular posts on LinkedIn.
  • Stand up new social media channels, such as Twitter and You Tube, across the organization and develop strategies around each channel to meet overall social media and organizational goals.
  • Maintain and update social media publishing calendar to ensure balance of messaging. Manage workflow of inbound social requests and ensure timely turn-around. Review, schedule and publish outbound posts. Monitor inbound messaging and route, respond to or escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Develop a strategy and process for creating complementary communities and dialogue across multiple social channels. Support social tool users with best practices; regularly monitor social accounts for access.
  • Deliver regular communications (including social best practices, trainings, updates) to the broader organization.
  • Craft, review and maintain internal documentation and governance, working with key internal and external stakeholders which may include the larger Communications team, internal departments, and external agencies.
  • Lead team and analytics resources to develop reporting that delivers actionable insights to stakeholders. Establish clear social media intelligence, pick-up and evaluation criteria.
  • Determine which tools best determine the Return on Investment and effectiveness of our social media campaigns and programs and regularly analyze and report on social media coverage throughout the organization.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field is required with a minimum of 8 years related work experience
  • 5+ years in a social media lead role
  • Track record of successfully developing and delivering social media campaigns
  • Experience with message development and message distribution via myriad of channels such as Twitter, You Tube, and LinkedIn
  • Project management experience leading large initiatives touching multiple groups within the organization
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Excel, or other analytics reporting software
