We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Communications Specialist at UL Research Institutes.

 

The Senior Communications Specialist expertly supports the communication and amplification efforts through content and campaign development for the Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI), an UL Research Institute (ULRI). This position manages agency partner relationships to develop and distribute integrated content that amplifies reach, engagement, and impact of FSRI public safety education programs and initiatives with both consumer and professional stakeholder groups, driving clarity and efficiency in go-to-market execution. The Senior Communications Specialist will work closely with all members of the amplification team, Public Safety Advisory Committee and researchers to support translation of research outcomes to public safety education messaging, tactics and content deliverables that advance FSRI’s engagement strategy.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Senior Communications Specialist, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Expertly develop and execute integrated marketing and communications campaigns and monitor their progress.
  • Develop content for distribution to applicable audiences and digital platforms – website, social media, email marketing, etc. in collaboration with FSRI team.
  • Identify and implement tools, processes and systems that enable the organization to deliver a consistent brand experience while continuously improving execution, with insights into the entire engagement cycle.
  • Achieve performance through data analytics for campaign tactics to inform opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with FSRI communications team to collect and evaluate website data, compile detailed reports and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Ensure communications align with brand guidelines and resonate with target audiences.
  • Work closely with FSRI leadership, researchers and other members of the research amplification team to best communicate programs and initiatives and customize messages for various on audiences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Expert and disciplined communicator, with demonstrated ability to translate technical information into meaningful content for audiences in educational spaces and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability across a variety of marketing and communications disciplines; solid understanding of earned, owned, and paid media and the types of content that would be utilized across each.
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing different types of market research tactics to inform content development and distribution.
  • Strong facilitation, project planning and management.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proactive time management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing agency and outside vendor relations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

 Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • University degree in communication, public relations, education, marketing or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum six years of related professional experience in communications and marketing.
  • One or more years supporting a nonprofit, scientific or research organization.
  • Experience in developing integrated campaigns.
