We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Specialist at UL Standards & Engagement. The Compliance Specialist will provide basic to intermediate level technical services to support various program operations of Standards Compliance for UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE). The primary function is to monitor, manage and safeguard the use of our published standards in collaboration with ULSE Legal and Data Science teams.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Compliance Specialist, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you: 



  • Requires broad knowledge and experience with digital rights management or other technological tools for protecting proprietary materials.

  • Conduct research through internal databases to validate ownership or access to standards and related material.

  • Process and manage supplier relationships including payment of invoices.

  • Understand and explain complex concepts regarding protection of our published standards and proprietary materials to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Respond to stakeholder access petitions and resolves basic issues related to these requests.

  • Analyze information regarding activities on internet and social media in order to detect and respond to unauthorized use of published standards and proprietary materials.

  • Manage compliance dashboard and reports for monthly, quarterly and/or annual distribution.

  • Provide technical expertise to support conformance opportunities.

  • Develop strategies to support protection and authorized distribution of our standards portfolio assets.

  • Perform other duties as directed

  • Demonstrated ability in identifying and authenticating usage of copyrighted material.

  • Technical ability to analyze online and offline material for potential unauthorized copying of our standards material.

  • Strong organizational, research, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a deadline-driven and detail-oriented environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.


 Professional education and experience requirements for the role include: 



  • Bachelor’s degree in regulatory affairs, compliance, accounting, business, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ of directly related experience.

  • Preferred experience with data Privacy and personal information

  • Prior experience working with copyright, other intellectual property, and/or compliance, a plus.
