We have an exciting opportunity for a Content Specialist at UL Research Institute. 

 

The Content Specialist creates a deep understanding of content strategy and develops, curates, and manages high-quality content across various digital and traditional platforms and adapts to evolving industry trends. The Content Specialist’s focus is to engage and educate the target audience while effectively conveying CIRI’s scientific findings, brand message and values.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities:

  • Produce compelling and relevant written and multimedia content, including articles, web content, blog posts, and more. Develop content that aligns with the brand's tone, style, and messaging guidelines.
  • Write about complex science-related topics and work with scientists and communications team to produce timely, interesting, and compelling bylines that readily convey the importance of the work.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create visually appealing graphics and images that enhance content effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development of the content strategy and calendar, ensuring a consistent and cohesive brand narrative by conducting thorough research to identify industry trends, audience preferences, and competitor activities, and incorporate findings into the content plan.
  • Monitor and optimize existing content for search engine visibility and user engagement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, and science teams, to ensure content aligns with overall business goals and campaigns.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to create accurate and authoritative content.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Professional Competencies

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar.
  • Proficient in the Associated Press Style, American Chemical Society Style Guidelines or other research styles guides as directed.
  • Familiarity with peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to translate scientific findings in a way that is understandable to a range of audiences.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and suggest innovative content ideas.
  • Analytical skills to interpret content performance data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with graphic design tools and basic video editing is a plus.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in content creation, ideally within a digital marketing or content-focused role.
