We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Standards Project Manager at UL Standards and Engagement.

 

This is a hybrid role open to candidates who can commute two days a week to the offices in either Evanston, IL or Raleigh, NC.

 

The Senior Standards Project Manager for Appliances, HVAC, and Lighting will manage a portfolio of standards and related activities to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. As part of the Standards Development team, The Senior Standards Project Manager will support the development, revision, and maintenance of safety standards within Appliances, HVAC, and Lighting. The Senior Standards Project Manager will drive end to end project execution, and collaboration with subject matter experts and stakeholder networks to ensure technical relevance of our safety standards and amplify the growth of our standards development work.

What you’ll learn & achieve:

As the Senior Standards Project Manager, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL Standards and Engagement as you:

  • Support the advancement and implementation of safety guidelines related to various products including home appliances, HVAC, lighting, battery powered tools/OPE and floating devices. 
  • Lead activities throughout the safety standards project lifecycle, from initial proposal evaluation to publication and revision. Ensure the implementation and sustainability of robust standards that meet industry needs and enhance safety.
  • Manag medium to large scale projects. Develop project plans, define scope and objectives, manage timelines, resource allocation and project interdependencies.
  • Leverage expertise and knowledge of accreditation, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and internal business requirements to advance technical content of standards.
  • Identify potential project risks and challenges, develop, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain quality control measures to uphold the accuracy and integrity of safety standards. Ensure standards align with industry benchmarks for quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, manufacturers, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to gather insights and identify opportunities focused on emerging markets.
  • Contribute to the program management associated with assigned standards, providing input and recommendations to Program Managers related to their portfolio of standards.
  • Facilitate round table discussions and workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare regular reports and maintain comprehensive records of project activities and progress. Create deliverables and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research program expansion opportunities related to the appliances, HVAC and lighting standards portfolio, both domestic and international.
  • Stay apprised of technical trends and developments including regulatory changes.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

 Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in standards development, engineering, project management or related role.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with US and Canadian Standards and Codes, various national, regional, and international standardization bodies, a plus.
