We have an exciting opportunity for an Program Manager – Enterprise Analytics at UL Research Institutes based in our Evanston, IL office.

 

The Program Manager of Enterprise Analytics is responsible for providing program management for enterprise and business analytics initiatives within UL Research Institutes (ULRI). The Program Manager will ensure that enterprise and business analytics projects are completed to specification, within the agreed time frame and budget.  The Program Manager will use expertise in analysis and visualization of complex business data to transform and synthesize enterprise data into meaningful insights that help the organization make informed decisions.

As the Program Manager – Enterprise Analytics you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and assemble a team to define organization requirements, identify risks, and translate them into data visualization and dashboard specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and other internal stakeholders, to understand data requirements, resolve data-related issues, and drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making.
  • Establish a robust and trusted partnership with stakeholders to ensure full buy-in and alignment on projects.
  • Grow enterprise analytics function across the organization, with clearly assigned roles and responsibilities to ensure accountability.
  • Drive and lead business analytics projects and teams across the enterprise working directly with internal and external stakeholders, other functional area leads, and ongoing operations to deliver successful implementation and manage project scope.
  • Create and maintain budget and schedule to ensure successful completion of business analytics
  • Develop and maintain standard project management documentation and metrics to ensure high transparency of status, risk, and issues across the enterprise.
  • Utilize advanced data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, QlikView) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R) to create interactive and visually appealing dashboards, reports, and infographics.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on data visualization tools, best practices, and dashboard usage to ensure effective utilization and adoption of visualizations across the organization.
  • May lead and/or contribute to other unit or department initiatives.

Professional Competencies 

  • Expert proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of data analysis techniques, statistical concepts, and data modeling principles.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain status updates, and follow well-defined processes to meet deadlines and requirements. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support team building and work effectively with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Ability to drive and lead technical and cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills to convey complex concepts and ideas in an appropriate manner to multiple levels, including peers, senior executives, and the Board.

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, Information Systems, Finance, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in program management, including 5 or more years managing enterprise business analytics projects within a large cross-functional or cross-regional team in a technology-driven environment, science, or research and development (R&D) sector.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis, statistical analysis, data visualization and/or dashboard development.
